Heyyyy there!
So guess what? I'm doing a bootcamp of sorts on how to earn a stable income while working from home called #ChalkTalkCebu. For this beta-test, I'd like to invite you all to join me for coffee and pizza as we talk about the basics of virtual assistance.
That's what I've been doing for the last five years! I'm also a B2C Marketing Coordinator for a smartphone app, but being a VA was the most enjoyable job I've ever had! The friendships I've made, the skills I've acquired, and basically just the beauty x challenge of working for online entrepreneurs is exciting to me!
A little back story: I did a session with a couple of friends, teaching them the tricks of the trade. I then shared this story with a couple of brilliant online entrepreneurs that I met over the weekend, and they encouraged me to do a small training event! So I took their advice!
Now.. there's a myth that in order for you to be hired online, you need to either be a writer or graphics designer or editor - but seriously, all you need is focus and the desire to learn and become better.
A virtual assistant or VA is a self-employed administrative or personal assistant who works remotely (usually at home) for various clients.
What does a VA do?
VAs do a wide range of tasks - from email management to content writing to website management to appointment setting to more skill-set-specific tasks such as podcast management, graphics design, web development, and social media marketing.
Who hires VAs?
Most clients who are looking for virtual assistants are those who run online businesses (webpreneurs, as they have been nicknamed); others who have physical businesses (shops, firms, etc.) also hire VAs for minor tasks as well.
Why do these clients hire VAs?
Well, the reason is mainly economic. Let's face it: hiring Filipino VAs is so much more affordable than hiring someone who can physically show up to their offices. Also, online entrepreneurs travel a lot and also work from home or wherever they are; their businesses are all Internet-based, so it's just reasonable and efficient that they work with someone who's Internet-based as well.- New skills to add and flaunt on your resume (podcast management, social media marketing, content management, etc.)
