They Just Want to Make the Kids Dance

There's this new band that I am infatuated with. Well, I first heard of their music last year while I was browsing through the "Related" links on my YouTube Favorites page. If there's "love at first sight," you could say that what happened between me and these guys was "love at first, uhmm, hear?!" The band is called The Glorious Veins. They are based in New York, but all four guys are from different parts of the world (the drummer is Cebuano!) Click here to go to their MySpace page.

What's great about them is that they're indie. I don't know . . . I have this thing for indie stuff---indie music, indie movies, indie-ana Jones (nyahahar, laugh or I'mma shoot ya!). Their music is somewhat blues-inspired, and they've described their sound as "bluesy postpunk dance rock from Mars," which is right-on bull's-eye to what you're about to hear from these guys! With their tagline "We just want to make the kids dance" and amazing music-making skills, I'm sure I will be seeing more of these guys soon. Just don't go ahead and ruin the flavor by overrating them, OK?! You understand me, people of the Teach Me How to Dougie world?

Here's a cover they did of "Pumped Up Kicks"  by Foster the People. Honestly, I like this version better than the original. No offense, FTP fans.

My favorite GV song, so far, is "Blue-Eyed Crazy." It has been on repeat the whole day! Check it out here.
